Police step up Christmas patrols in Brick Lane

Twenty uniformed police officers will be patrolling the Brick Lane area over Christmas.

Plastic pint glasses in Ribble Valley pubs to help cut injuries

PLASTIC glasses are to be given to Ribble Valley pubs in a bid to reduce accidents and injuries caused by glass attacks.

More than 3,000 polycarbonate glasses, which are designed to look and feel like normal glasses, will be given to pubs and clubs in the borough's towns after funding from Ribble Valley Borough Council.

The move is part of a campaign to encourage pub owners to use the plastic glasses in the run-up to Christmas in a bid to reduce violent crime.

Christmas crackdown on Swansea's booze problems

TIME is being called on booze-related crime in the countdown to Christmas.

A series of measures have been drawn up as part of the clampdown.

Action includes high visibility policing in trouble-spots during the party season, plastic glasses being handed out in pubs and clubs in a drive to curb the risk of alcohol related injuries and taxi marshals will be out patrolling the ranks to prevent problems.
